 Changing Our Political Situation
APAC District Watch

As documented in The Charge and Political Action the federal (and State) governments have created a fairly complicated series of political restrictions and prohibitions on 501(c)(3) organizations such as the SCV. Over the past few decades this aspect of The Charge has suffered greatly. However the same laws and regulations provide the guidelines for like minded to participate on issues and elections of concern.

Following these guidelines and in full compliance with the law the Americans for the Preservation of American Culture (APAC) was created. The APAC is registered 527 PAC.

In our first few months of operations since March we have had some limited success in the Virginia Assembly Primary and the 10th Congressional District Special Election in Georgia. Both the Georgia election and the ensuing runoff were decided by very small margins and both the runoff candidates contacted the APAC for an endorsement. Our preferred candidate won the runoff. The federal issues he agreed to support are:

  • Flying Confederate Flags at all cemeteries containing Confederate Veterans and maintained by the Veterans Administration, National Park Service or other federal agency

  • Eliminating the politically correct version of history presented at Battlefields by the National Park Service.

  • Purchasing Battlefield property for preservation

  • Restoring the UDC Patent that was discontinued by then Senator Carol Mosley Braun from Illinois.

One down, 217 to go!

On the other hand, there have been special elections in South Carolina and Florida in which we had no presence. In the case of the Florida special election a strong Heritage supporter and member of the SCV lost by 300 votes. We could have made the difference, but were not aware of the election until afterwards.

We hope you agree, we need to have more elections like the Georgia special election if we are going to reverse the recent negative trends. If you agree consider helping implement the APAC District Watch, whether it be by contributions or actively participating in your selected election district(s).

APAC District Watch:

We need one or more member in every election district in the South to monitor events and provide timely information on:

  • Elections, special or regular

  • Candidates, contact information

  • Issues, issues relating to meeting The Charge

  • Media, contact information for print, radio and TV media

You can signup for any election district, Congressional, State Legislature, County (Parrish in Louisiana) or Municipal. Compiling this information for all the Southern States is an enormous job. But compiling this information for your own election district only takes a couple hours at most.

We must work together to have success.

With this information, we will be able to develop candidate questions for all elections and then produce voter guides. For critical elections we can raise funds and distribute voter guides to the public or take other action to improve the results of the elections.

If you can not actively participate, consider sending a contribution to support the effort. Send a couple of those bills with Lincoln on them and put Lincoln to work on our side.

If we want to change our political situation, nothing will change for the better - until we make the change. But with your support we can have more elections like the Georgia special election every year. So consider joining now, the amount is not important, send what you can. As soon as we get back from Mobile we will start the District Watch signup.
